Moha Tirtha Langalbandh Development Project, Bandar, Narayangan, Bangladesh

Langalbandh is a very well known Hindu pilgrimage destination in Bangladesh. The Hindu pilgrims from all over Bengal and the adjacent regions (India, Srilanka, Nepal etc.) gather in hundreds of thousands every year on the banks of the Brahmaputra river at Langalbandh for religious rites including ``Holy Bath`` during the venerated festival of `Mahashtami Tithi` during April. (Incidentally, the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed at this place signifying how the great leader revered this place.) The river on which Langalbandh was situated came to be called Brahmaputra, because, according to Hindu mythology, it was the son (`Putra`) of Lord Brahma. 

The place will be developed as a self-sustained place for pilgrimage as well as a tourist spot. Project need: Every year innumerable pilgrims come to Langalbandh. This holy place occupies an important part in the golden heritage of Bangladesh. As the place has the religious as well as historical significance, this project which contains conservation as well as detail master plan design of this site is an important necessity for our country. If the project with its phases is completed successfully, many pilgrims as well as tourists will visit the historical holy place all over the year and it will be an option to develop the economy our country.
